Install Lame MP3 Encoder
Because of patent license restrictions, Auphonic is not allowed to
distribute MP3 encoders and decoders.
You have to install the free external tool lame to enable MP3 support in
our desktop apps.

Lame Installation for Mac OS X

You can install lame using
Homebrew:
- Press Command+Space and type Terminal and press enter/return key.

Run in Terminal app (this installs homebrew):
/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)"
and press enter/return key. -
Run (this installs lame):
brew install lame
- Restart the Auphonic program afterwards.
Lame Installation for Windows
- Download Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe (sorry for this site - please see Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe in the middle of this page).
- Run the exe file to install LAME for Audacity on your computer.
- IMPORTANT: Do not change the offered destination location of "Your Program Files\Lame for Audacity" !
- Restart the Auphonic program.
If you still have problems or want to use a custom lame binary, please copy lame.exe into the Auphonic installation directory or add the lame installation directory to your path!
